9 Days – Northern Circuit Route Kilimanjaro Trek
The Northern Circuit Route Kilimanjaro Trek is the longest and most scenic route to the Roof of Africa. This 9-day itinerary is designed for trekkers who want to enjoy Kilimanjaro’s beauty in a quieter, less-traveled path with higher success rates due to optimal acclimatization. You’ll traverse through diverse ecosystems—rainforest, moorland, alpine desert—and summit via the less-crowded School Hut route. This luxury trek includes top-notch camping equipment, personal porters, and expert guides to make your journey comfortable and memorable.
Day 1: Arrival in Arusha
Airport pick-up and transfer to your luxury lodge in Arusha. Pre-climb briefing and equipment check.

Day 2: Arusha – Londorossi Gate – Mti Mkubwa (Big Tree Camp)
Drive to Londorossi Gate (2,250m) and begin the trek through rainforest to Mti Mkubwa (2,820m).
Trekking Time: 3–4 hours

Day 3: Mti Mkubwa – Shira 1 Camp
Trek into moorland and cross several ridges to Shira 1 Camp (3,610m).
Trekking Time: 5–6 hours

Day 4: Shira 1 Camp – Shira 2 Camp
Continue across the Shira Plateau to Shira 2 Camp (3,850m).

Day 5: Shira 2 – Lava Tower – Moir Hut
Climb to Lava Tower (4,630m) for acclimatization, then descend to Moir Hut (4,200m).

Day 6: Moir Hut – Buffalo Camp
Trek over the Lent Hills and descend to Buffalo Camp (4,020m).

Continue around the northern slopes to School Hut (4,800m), your base before the summit.

Midnight ascent to Uhuru Peak (5,895m), the highest point in Africa. Descend to Mweka Camp.

Day 9: Mweka Camp – Mweka Gate – Arusha
Final descent through rainforest to Mweka Gate (1,640m) and transfer to Arusha.
